You can qualify for Medicare Before Turning 65, Medicare Part A, and Medicare Part B before attaining age 65. For individuals that have a qualifying Disability, Medicare Before Turning is available. These individuals must have received Social Security Disability Benefits for 24 months or have End Stage Renal Disease(ESRD) or ALS, which is also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Individuals with ESRD or Lou Gehrig’s do not have to wait 24 months to be eligible. If you have ESRD or ALS, the requirements are as follows:
ALS-
Your Medicare Eligibility will be immediately following the beginning of your Social Security Disability payments.
ESRD-
3 Months after regular dialysis begins or after a Kidney transplant.
The Benefits are the same as for individuals over 65. If you are under 65 and disabled, consult with your Medicare Advisor to discuss your Medicare options.
