While Medicare is a Federal program, Medicaid is administered by the individual states. It’s called by different names in different states but for our discussion, we’ll refer to it as Medicaid. Medicaid is a program designed for individuals with low-income or special needs. There are different tiers of Medicaid depending upon income levels. If an individual qualifies for 100% Medicaid then all of your cost share will be paid by Medical, including your Part B premium. Medicare will lower the cost of Medications, provide transportation benefits and provide for long-term care. It is important to note that not all doctors participate in Medicaid.
